Komatsu

Komatsu is a Japanese multinational corporation that manufactures construction, mining and forestry equipment, as well as industrial machinery and diesel engines. The company is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, and operates manufacturing facilities and sales networks across six continents, serving customers in more than 140 countries. Komatsu is publicly listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange and is one of the world's largest manufacturers of heavy equipment, competing directly with companies such as Caterpillar and Hitachi Construction Machinery. The company's product portfolio includes hydraulic excavators, bulldozers, wheel loaders, dump trucks, motor graders and underground mining equipment, alongside advanced technologies for autonomous haulage systems and remote-controlled machinery. Komatsu has established a significant presence in the mining sector, where its ultra-class haul trucks and autonomous vehicle systems are deployed at major operations globally. The company employs tens of thousands of people worldwide and generates annual revenues exceeding ten billion dollars. Komatsu has increasingly invested in digital solutions, artificial intelligence and machine learning to enhance equipment productivity, safety and operational efficiency. The company also manufactures industrial equipment including presses, machine tools and laser-cutting systems. Komatsu was founded in 1921 in Komatsu, Ishikawa Prefecture, initially producing mining equipment and machine tools before expanding into construction machinery in the post-war period and growing into a global industrial leader.
