Jan Fourie

Jan Fourie is a South African energy sector executive associated with renewable energy and independent power production. He is linked to Mulilo, a prominent independent power producer operating in South Africa's renewable energy sector. Mulilo has developed and operates wind and solar projects across multiple provinces, including the Northern Cape, Western Cape, Free State and North West. The company has been active in South Africa's Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme and has expanded into electricity wheeling arrangements with corporate off-takers. Fourie's role places him within the country's energy transition landscape, working alongside financial partners such as Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, Norfund, Absa Bank and Standard Bank South Africa. His involvement reflects the growing private-sector participation in South Africa's shift away from coal-based generation towards renewable sources. Mulilo's portfolio includes utility-scale solar and wind facilities that supply power to the national grid and directly to commercial and industrial customers. Fourie's work contributes to addressing South Africa's electricity supply challenges and the broader decarbonisation agenda. His profile has risen as independent power producers have become central to the country's energy security and climate commitments.
