George Airport

George Airport is a commercial airport serving the city of George in the Western Cape province of South Africa. The facility is located approximately 10 km from the city centre and functions as the primary air gateway to the Garden Route region. George Airport is owned and operated by the Airports Company South Africa (ACSA), the State-owned enterprise responsible for managing the country's principal airports. The airport handles scheduled domestic flights connecting George to major hubs including Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban, with services provided by South African carriers. It features a single terminal building and a runway capable of accommodating narrow-body jet aircraft. The facility plays an important role in supporting tourism to the Garden Route, one of South Africa's most popular coastal destinations, as well as serving the local business community. George Airport also handles charter flights, particularly during peak holiday seasons. The airport has undergone periodic upgrades to its infrastructure and passenger facilities to accommodate growing traffic and improve operational efficiency. Its strategic location makes it a key piece of transport infrastructure for the southern Cape region.
