Emmanuel Macron

Emmanuel Macron is the President of France, having assumed office in May 2017 and winning re-election in 2022. He is a French politician who leads the centrist Renaissance party, formerly known as La République En Marche. Before becoming president, Macron served as Minister of Economy, Industry and Digital Affairs under President François Hollande from 2014 to 2016. He began his career as a senior civil servant and investment banker at Rothschild & Cie Banque. As president, Macron has pursued economic reforms aimed at liberalising the French economy, strengthening European Union integration and positioning France as a key diplomatic player on the global stage. He has maintained an active engagement with African nations, seeking to redefine France's relationship with the continent beyond its colonial past. Macron has promoted French business interests abroad, including supporting major French companies such as TotalEnergies, Orange and CMA CGM in their international expansion. His foreign policy has emphasised multilateralism, climate action and counter-terrorism cooperation, particularly in the Sahel region. Macron was born in 1976 in Amiens, studied at the École Nationale d'Administration, and at 39 became France's youngest president since Napoleon.
