Chris Yelland

Chris Yelland is a South African energy analyst and commentator specialising in electricity, energy policy and the power sector. He is the managing director of EE Business Intelligence, an independent energy and electricity consultancy and publishing firm based in South Africa. Yelland is widely recognised for his detailed technical analysis and critical commentary on the performance and governance of State-owned utility Eskom, as well as broader energy policy issues including renewable energy, independent power producers and electricity market reform. His career includes extensive experience in the electricity industry, having previously held senior positions within Eskom before establishing his consultancy practice. Yelland is a frequent contributor to South African business media and his insights are regularly sought by journalists, policymakers and industry stakeholders. He is known for his data-driven approach, often publishing detailed performance metrics and financial analyses of power stations such as Kusile and Medupi.
