Centurion

Centurion is a city in Gauteng province, South Africa, situated between Pretoria and Johannesburg. The city has a population of approximately 236,000 and forms part of the Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality. Centurion is a major commercial and residential hub, hosting numerous corporate headquarters, technology companies and business parks. The city is home to significant telecommunications and information technology infrastructure, including data centres and internet exchange facilities. Key industries include financial services, manufacturing, technology and retail. Centurion is well connected by road and rail, lying along the N1 highway and the Gautrain rapid rail network. The city also hosts sporting venues including SuperSport Park cricket stadium and Loftus Versfeld rugby stadium. Originally established as Verwoerdburg in 1967, the city was renamed Centurion in 1995. Its strategic location in the economic heartland of South Africa has driven steady growth in both population and commercial activity over recent decades.
