Brett Herron

Brett Herron is a South African politician and the secretary-general of the GOOD Party. He is based in Cape Town and has been a prominent figure in Western Cape politics. Herron previously served as a member of the mayoral committee in Cape Town under the Democratic Alliance before leaving the party in 2018. His departure from the DA was driven by disagreements over housing policy and what he described as the party's failure to address spatial inequality in the city. He co-founded the GOOD Party alongside Patricia de Lille, who had also left the DA amid political tensions. As secretary-general, Herron has been instrumental in shaping the party's policy direction, particularly on issues of urban development, housing and social justice. The GOOD Party positions itself as a progressive alternative focused on good governance and anti-corruption. Herron has been involved in various legal and regulatory matters on behalf of the party, including interventions related to energy policy and municipal governance. His background in urban planning and local government informs much of his political work. He remains a vocal critic of spatial apartheid and advocates for more equitable city planning in South Africa's metropolitan areas.
