BMW Group South Africa

BMW Group South Africa is the South African subsidiary of BMW Group, the German luxury vehicle manufacturer. The company assembles and distributes BMW passenger cars and motorcycles in South Africa and serves as a regional hub for sub-Saharan Africa. It operates a manufacturing plant in Rosslyn, north of Pretoria, which produces vehicles for both the domestic market and export. The Rosslyn facility has been in operation since 1973 and is one of the oldest BMW production sites outside Germany. BMW Group South Africa assembles models including the 3 Series and X3 sport utility vehicle, with a significant portion of output destined for international markets including the United States, Japan and Europe. The company is a major employer in South Africa's automotive sector and works closely with local suppliers to meet domestic content requirements. BMW Group South Africa is a member of the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa and engages with industry bodies and trade unions including the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa. The subsidiary plays a strategic role in BMW Group's global manufacturing network and contributes to South Africa's position as a vehicle production and export base.
