Bank Of America

Bank of America is a multinational investment bank and financial services company headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, United States. It is one of the largest banking institutions in the world by assets and market capitalisation, serving individual consumers, small and medium-sized businesses, institutional investors, large corporations and governments. The company operates through four main business segments: consumer banking, global wealth and investment management, global banking, and global markets. Bank of America provides a comprehensive range of services including retail banking, credit cards, mortgages, corporate and investment banking, wealth management, trading and research. The bank maintains a significant presence in commodities and natural resources research, providing market analysis and investment guidance on sectors including mining, metals and energy. Its global markets division offers insights on critical minerals, base metals such as copper and aluminium, and precious metals including gold and platinum, which are essential to industries ranging from electric vehicles to the energy transition. Bank of America employs hundreds of thousands of people worldwide and operates thousands of banking centres and ATMs across the United States and in key international markets. The institution was formed through the 1998 merger of NationsBank and the original Bank of America, and expanded significantly through the 2008 acquisition of Merrill Lynch during the global financial crisis. It is a primary dealer in US Treasury securities and a member of the Federal Reserve System.
