BrĂ¼el & Kjaer wireless sound level meters from TANDM

A range of wireless, smartphone-operated sound level meters has been introduced to the South African market.

The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa- (Icasa-) approved advanced class 1 measurement solutions can be used as standalone sound level meters (SLMs) or paired with dedicated mobile applications (apps) and computer software.

The Brüel & Kjaer (B&K) 2245 and 2255 sound level meters were introduced by local test and measurement company TANDM. The devices feature an open application programming interface (API), real-time remote control, device configuration, and the streaming of live measurement data and audio.

The B&K 2245 sound level meter is available in five versions, with features that are designed to simplify the measurement of exhaust noise, environmental noise, workplace noise and product noise. The B&K 2255 offers the added benefit of acoustics assessments such as building acoustics.

Both instruments are supported by a range of apps tailored to specific requirements and offer an optional smart docking station that automatically transfers stored data to a network. The calibrator auto-detection function is designed to provide rapid and error-free calibration, offering improved accuracy and convenience.

Other features include the single measurement range of 22.7 dB(A) to 140.6 dB(A) from noise floor to maximum level and frequency range of 6 Hz to 20 kHz, as well as 16 GB of internal storage.
