Wide Stabila range caters for diverse requirements and applications

Stabila’s continuously expanding range of highly accurate German-engineered measuring tools sets it apart from competitors supplying the local and African markets.

Stabila’s official Southern African distributor Upat carries out significant market research before adding the latest tools to its product portfolio, to ensure all end user requirements and applications are catered for. Upat National Product Specialist Charl Weber, explains that Stabila measuring tools have been available locally for almost 60 years and are now also supplied as far afield as Namibia, Mozambique, Kenya, and Nigeria.

The Stabila product range extends from carpenter pencils to spirit levels, digital protractors, and laser distance measurers from 30 m to 200 m, with a 1 mm to 2 mm accuracy, as well as tape measures.

The larger measuring tools can perform multiple tasks in conjunction with Bluetooth enabled distancers, such as measuring cubic metres, square meterage, and distance. Measurements can be added in, measurements can be added up, price per square meter can be added to quotes, and range finding can be undertaken with Stabila laser measurers.

The LAX 400 multi-line laser can measure diameter distances up to 150 m via a receiver, while the LAR 350 rotation laser can measure diameters of up to 800 m when used with a receiver. “Stabila has a tool for everyone’s measuring needs,” Weber comments.

The markets for Stabila measuring equipment are DIY users and building contractors, with the more sophisticated systems favoured by engineering firms, architects, and land surveyors.  “We are able to target such diverse users due to the depth and breadth of the Stabila product range,” Weber elaborates.

What gives Upat a leading edge is its aftermarket support and training. With Stabila, for example, complimentary training sessions are available to all end users. In addition, Stabila offers a ten-year warranty on all its spirit levels.

“It is crucial that measuring tools are operated correctly,” Weber stresses, as minute inaccuracies can increase exponentially on larger distances resulting in an increase in construction costs.

In 2017 alone, Stabila trained over 1 000 senior technical managers from its global agents at its German headquarters. This training, in turn, was disseminated to all technical staff, who are then empowered not only to assist end users, but to boost sales by suggesting alternative applications and complete solutions.
