Telecommunications provider Vodacom’s enterprise unit, Vodacom Business, on Thursday launched the One Net Express solution in South Africa, saying it would benefit small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

One Net Express, which provides big business switchboard benefits to small businesses, is already in use by more than two-million subscribers of Vodacom’s parent company Vodafone across the UK and Europe.

“There’s no doubt that SMEs are the growth engine for our economy but often the pressures and costs associated with doing business can stifle their development.  With this in mind, now is an ideal time for us to launch a product that uses mobile technology to provide tangible cost savings,” Vodacom Business head Vuyani Jarana said in a statement.

The solution is available for under R200 a month and is suitable for companies that employ up to 100 staff members. It gives businesses traditional switchboard or private branch exchange features on their cellphones.

It also includes a host of call management functions, such as hunt groups and auto attendant, which means businesses never have to miss a call. Businesses will also have the option to either port in or request a landline telephone number for their business. This number will be accessible through their cellphone with no divert fees.

Vodacom Business states that customers in the UK have benefited from an average of 20% saving on their internal calls by using One Net Express.

“Customers using One Net Express win on two fronts. They benefit from reduced call costs and from being able to respond to calls faster by directing customers to the right person. It’s no wonder that One Net Express users have grown their revenues following the introduction of the solution to their business,” said Jarana.
