The Flight Centre Travel Group has welcomed the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention lowering its travel advisory risk level for South Africa.

Flight Centre MD Euan McNeil says this is good news for the inbound tourism industry, as well as the outbound travel sector.

“We have seen international travel enquiries pick up in 2022 as global travel restrictions ease and the world starts to open up again.

“The US is a large source market for South Africa, and it is therefore encouraging that air access is resuming,” he adds.

South Africans travelling to the US require full vaccination and a negative Covid-19 test.

Australia has also announced that it will reopen for fully vaccinated travellers from February 21.
