News reports written since the media came into possession of the so-called #GuptaLeaks emails have been both confirmatory and alarming. Most startling has been the brazenness of the Gupta family and their surrogates in efforts to repurpose government policy and public procurement for their own enrichment ends. Equally startling is the depth and breadth of their endeavours. While State capture allegations against those associated with President Jacob Zuma predated these reports, they have nevertheless served to accelerate the unravelling of previous denials. They could very well also accelerate the unravelling of Zuma’s Presidency itself.
