Underground trackless machine launched at BAUMA

UNDERGROUND HAULERS Yantai Xingye Machinery manufactures a range of underground trackless equipment

A low-profile load-haul dumper (LHD), manufactured by Chinese equipment manufacturer Yantai Xingye Machinery, will be launched at this year’s BAUMA CONEXPO AFRICA construction and mining trade fair.

The XYDC – 5 LHD is manufactured for distribution on the international market, with distribution managed in South Africa by Xingye Equipment Solutions. The diesel-powered LHD can operate in confined underground mining environments and has the ability to haul and dump between 5 t and 7 t of material – dependent on power train setup.

Xingye Equipment Solutions CEO Boet Buys tells Engineering News that the introduction of the LHD on the African market is aimed at all low-stoping-width mining operations.

BAUMA CONEXPO AFRICA 2015 will be held at the Johannesburg Expo Centre from September 15 to 18, during which Yantai Xingye Machinery and Xingye Equipment Solutions will display the XYDC – 5, 30 t dump trucks and another LHD variant.

Buys says Xingye Equipment Solutions officially opened at the end of 2014, having been granted the sole distribution rights for Africa in August 2014.

To date, the company has two LHDs and eight 30 t dump trucks on order. The first dump truck has been delivered and is operational, with the remaining seven to be delivered by the middle of September. Both LHDs have been delivered and are in service.

The company imports the full range of Yantai Xingye Machinery’s equipment, which includes 30 different underground-mining vehicles ranging from electric- and diesel-powered LHDs, dump trucks, utility vehicles, rock breakers and vibratory pick scalers.

Buys states that the equipment designed and supplied by Yantai Xingye Machinery uses renowned and trusted original- equipment-manufacturer major components. The components manufacturers include Mercedes Benz and Deutz for engines, Kessler for axles and Dana Spicer transmissions and convertors for its powertrain.

An added advantage is the company’s on-board digital monitoring and reporting devices of the vehicle operating parameters, such as operating temperatures and system pressure, which are displayed on large liquid crystal display screens in the operator cabin. This digital system eliminates the need for analogue gauges, which results in fewer components and fewer spare parts. It also encompasses an integrated warning and alarm system with built-in tools for diagnostics, so no additional fault finding equipment is required.

Further, the design of the dump trucks and utility vehicles employs combined centre articulation and oscillation systems, renowned for improved operational performance and reduced maintenance interventions.

After-Sales Support
Yantai Xingye Machinery, in collaboration with Xingye, Equipment Solutions, established an equipment support network in South Africa to assist existing and new clients.

The workshop and warehouse facility is based in Robertsville, near Roodepoort, on the West Rand, from which parts are distributed and field service support is provided for clients.
