TORONTO (miningweekly.com) – Canadian project developer True Gold has reinforced its Burkina Faso-based development and operations team that will be responsible for completing the construction of the Karma gold mine, as well as subsequent operations and ongoing community and government relations.

The company advised on Friday that it had appointed a new COO after incumbent Peter Carter had resigned. The company would at the end of June announce the identity of the new appointment; a mining professional with extensive experience in mine operations and project development with recent and relevant West African experience.

The TSX-V-listed company last week restarted construction of its flagship project, after it temporarily suspended construction activities at its Karma project in January, when several hundred members from two surrounding communities, Ramatoulaye and Namissiguima, had marched on the mine, threatened employees and damaged equipment.

True Gold said the $131.5-million mine was on track for its first gold pour in March next year.
