TrenTyre rolls out FleetFirst tyre management programme in S Africa

TrenTyre has launched FleetFirst, a tyre management solution offered by Goodyear, in the South African fleet market.

FleetFirst currently takes care of more than 200 000 trucks in 28 European countries, including Spain and the UK.

The programme provides tyres and service support, as well as round-the-clock roadside assistance to vehicle fleets.

With this new service offering, specialising in the complete lifecycle management of commercial truck tyres, TrenTyre will provide fleet owners with 24/7 peace of mind, says TrenTyre operations director Stephen Smith.

This cradle-to-grave approach should ensure optimised fuel economy and longer tyre life, as well as reduced downtime.

Fleet customers will be able to choose one or more, or all of the services that feature within the FleetFirst programme, which include TruckForce Mobile Vans, ServiceLine24h and Fleet Online Solutions.

TruckForce Mobile Vans specialises in the complete lifecycle management of commercial truck tyres. Each location that has a van available provides trained personnel and the equipment necessary to take care of any tyre-related situation.

ServiceLine24h is TrenTyre’s emergency roadside assistance service, operated through a 24/7 call centre.

Fleet Online Solutions is an Internet-based fleet management system, with an integrated management reporting suite and key performance indicator tracker.

Basically, the FleetFirst service specialises in inspecting, monitoring, regrooving and replacing tyres almost anywhere and anytime.

The aim is to improve TrenTyre’s service offering to the commercial segment of its business, explains Smith.

“We aim to be an agile partner to our fleet customers.”

Fleets in South Africa operate in difficult conditions, adds Goodyear Europe, Middle East and Africa retail and service director Nigel Sowerby.

Fleet operators face “price pressure and wafer-thin margins” while operating under recessionary conditions, he adds.

“Our job is to help fleets. Our job is to sell less tyres to more fleets. We have to give fleets a competitive advantage in the marketplace.”
