Tiger Brands on Thursday received a Certificate of Acceptability from the Capricorn Municipality for its value-added meat products processing facility in Polokwane, Limpopo, allowing for the production of ready-to-eat products to restart immediately.

The certificate was issued after a rigorous assessment of the factory was completed, the company said in a statement.

The South African food manufacturer’s plant was shut amid one of the worst food-borne disease outbreaks ever experienced in the country, with listeria bacteria found in its food production plant.

The Enterprise meat canning operation, a separate unit also located at the Polokwane site, restarted production on September 12.

A Certificate of Acceptability for this operation was issued by the Capricorn Municipality on August 31.
