Showcasing the crucial role played by the heating, energy, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HEVAC&R) industry and the rapidly developing technology in eco-friendly efficiency, the Frigair exhibition will take place at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand, Johannesburg, drawing industry professionals from all over the country (and the world).
As an industry that impacts on every aspect of life, the exhibition will focus on addressing solutions in mining, construction, food, packaging, storage, retail, manufacturing, and distribution. Whether it is heating, cooling, air movement, or freezing, the science behind these technologies has a direct effect on health, safety, and the environment. From engineers to contractors and even property owners – this show will offer all HEVAC&R role-players the opportunity to experience the latest on the market.
“The role of HEVAC&R is often undersold – but the importance of good indoor air quality cannot be denied,” explained Dale Macnamara, Frigair 2015 exhibition manager. “The increasing drive towards efficiency has led to great innovation in this sector and Frigair offers a platform to showcase these new technologies and products.”
From compressors to solar heaters and even ducting and freezers – a large variety of products will be on display at Frigair 2015, combining industry’s big names in one venue.

But Frigair 2015 is so much more than just an exhibition. Visitors will also have the benefit of attending various workshops that will provide insights into the latest trends, challenges, and industry legislation. A good selection of top-selling publications from Ashrae will also be on sale at the exhibition, imported especially for this event.
For the first time, four Ashrae short courses will be presented by international Ashrae-approved speakers during Frigair 2015. The following courses are provisionally scheduled:
- Design of commercial ground source heat pumps;
- Healthcare facilities: best practice HVAC design considerations and criteria;
- IAQ best practice for design, construction, and commissioning; and
- Energy Management: best practices.
Also not to be missed is the refrigerant workshop with special focus on the state of the HCFC phase out. The Department of Environmental Affairs has agreed to come on board to present a progress report on the phase out and the future of refrigerants in South Africa.
The Frigair Expo takes place every three years and is organised in partnership with the South African Institute of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (SAIRAC). It is also endorsed by various industry bodies, including SARACCA, SAASA, SAFA, SASVA, RAMSA, and SARDA.
