TEAMWORK TÜV SÜD South Africa provides dedicated service to clients
TÜV SÜD Pro-Tec, part of the global technical services provider TÜV SÜD, performs phased array testing, not only on large bore piping, but also on small tubes, at State-owned power utility Eskom power plants, where welds have been tested during scheduled outages.
This technique can be used on tubes with a wall thickness as low as 4.5 mm.
TÜV SÜD Pro-Tec’s capabilities include performing close proximity radiography, which enables the surrounding workforce to work as much as 2 m away from a radiation source. Another successful radiographic application is the introduction of digital radiography that can enable results to be viewed on a computer screen immediately, saving time and money.
Pro-Tec specialises in nondestructive testing (NDT) and inspection services using conventional and advanced NDT methods on new production weldments as well as in in-service inspection.
Pro-Tec was established in 1996, and was incorporated into the TÜV SÜD South Africa group in 2011. The latter was formed in 2010, and is based in Middelburg, Mpumalanga.
