Castor manufacturer Tente Castors South Africa has been in operation in the country since 1971. Tente has manufacturing facilities in Jet Park and Rosslyn and sales outlets in Gauteng and the Eastern Cape. Tente also has representation in KwaZulu-Natal and the Western Cape.

Tente Castors was established in 1923 and Tente Castors South Africa was the first subsidiary to be established outside Germany. It employs 115 people across its operations. Its main factory is situated at 2 Wankel street, Jet Park, Boksburg. Here, the company has equipment that is mainly used in plastic injection moulding and metal pressing operations.

The products, which range from 32 mm to 400 mm in diameter, are used in a variety of markets, including the retail, medical, automotive, industrial and institutional sectors. Products with a carrying capacity of up to 12 000 kg have be designed and manufactured.

Besides its Jet Park facility, the company also has a divisional factory, trading as Wheel & Castor, situated in Rosslyn, Pretoria. The Eastern Cape office trades from Newton Park, Port Elizabeth.

Tente Castors, which has a book value of South African fixed assets of almost R10-million, produces to the European EN standards and has conformed to ISO 9001/2008 and preceding International Organisation for Standardisation standards since 1993. It also conforms to all required safety standards.
