Tema liquefied natural gas import terminal project, Ghana

Name and Location
Tema liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal project, Ghana.

Client
Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC).

Project Description
The Tema terminal will have a scalable capacity to receive, store, regasify and deliver about 3.4-million tons of LNG a year at steady state, equivalent to 500-million standard cubic feet of gas a day.

It will use a dedicated state-of-the-art floating, storage and regasification unit moored off the shore of Tema.

An associated subsea and onshore pipeline will deliver the natural gas to GNPC and its customers on shore.

The facility will enable cost-effective refueling and regasification without affecting maritime and port traffic.

Value
The project will involve a capital outlay of $550-million and will be implemented on a build, own, operate and transfer basis, with the assets transferring to GNPC after 20 years.

Duration
The start of operations is scheduled for the end of 2016.
