Telkom suspends CFO

JSE-listed telecommunications group Telkom on Thursday said it had suspended CFO Jacques Schindehütte, who was set to undergo a disciplinary hearing following the results of an independent investigation into “certain allegations”.

Telkom Group CEO Sipho Maseko said in a statement that the board of directors, who initiated the investigation by an undisclosed law firm, was “determined to act responsibly and to uphold all governance requirements”.

The group would not provide further information until the conclusion of the disciplinary hearing.

“We have a duty to investigate and to test the validity of allegations which are brought to our attention through an appropriate process. We will do this fairly, without favour or prejudice,” he explained.

Schindehütte was appointed in August 2011, taking the reins from then-interim CFO Deon Fredericks who was appointed after Peter Nelson resigned for unknown reasons in 2010.

Deputy CFO Fredericks has once again resumed the role of acting CFO in the interim.
