Targus launches Spy Guard webcam

Leading manufacturer of laptop bags and computing accessories Targus South Africa has launched its Spy Guard webcam cover into the South African market to help customers further protect themselves against hackers.

“It’s no surprise that hackers are tapping into every inch of the internet, taking over every component, including webcams,” said Mohamed El Aougri, sales director Targus South Africa. “Even the FBI recommends covering up your laptop’s webcam. While we protect our technology with the best cases and carriers, we can’t afford to overlook the dangers of webcam breaches anymore.”

Once attached, the Spy Guard cover stays securely in place, easily sliding open and closed to access video conferencing and video hangouts, or block against potential hackers or video chats that might have inadvertently stayed open.

To improve cybersecurity, Targus offers a range of practical accessories to protect user data, including Targus Privacy Screens. These protect visual privacy, so that on-screen data is only visible to the person directly in front of the screen, with onlookers to either side only seeing a dark, unclear screen.

“Our broad range of products enables professionals to utilise the best technology to minimise physical damage as well as online threats. They form an integrated approach of not only protecting hardware but digital information as well,” El Aougri says.

The Spy Guard webcam is available through all Targus distributors, including master distributors Axiz and Tarsus, supporting corporate and retail markets with a full range of products to carry, connect and protect their technology.
