PERTH (miningweekly.com) – ASX-listed West African Resources has been awarded an environmental permit for its Tanlouka gold project, in Burkina Faso.

“The approval of the environmental- and social-impact assessment (ESIA) is a major achievement and brings us to the final stages of the permitting process for Tanlouka,” said West African MD Richard Hyde.

The approval of the ESIA is the penultimate step before the company is fully permitted to start the development of Tanlouka. The final stage of the mine permitting process is now well advanced, and West African is hoping to have the mining licence granted before the end of the first quarter of 2017.

The project has an indicated mineral resource of 9.8-million tonnes, grading 2.1 g/t gold for 670 000 oz of gold, and a further inferred 695 000 oz.
