Supporting leaders vested in engineering, infrastructure and innovation to redeem the economic downturn - a starting point in SA

A general election date is yet to be released, but supporting local businesses and women in STEM leadership cannot be delayed.  Pinpoint Stewards will be hosting a Women and Leadership conference in Engineering, Infrastructure and Innovation set to take place at the exclusive Hilton Hotel, Sandton, Johannesburg on 28 and 29 February.

Organiser, Ankia Roux, says: “As a local, women owned company we are competing with international organized events, but we are confident that SA has the talent and expertise within our borders to bring stakeholders together on unique industry challenges and realistic solutions fit-for-us to excell.” With a company slogan that reads: “Select and pinpoint people to entrust with your business goals” it’s no wonder the women-owned company is vested in seeing the best leadership choices being made.

Pinpoint Stewards are supported by media partners who are devolved in seeing women in SA business succeed.  For the upcoming event in February, Pinpoint Stewards is once again backed by long standing partners: Engineering News, African Mining and association WiMSA.  Roux, adds: “media partners enables us to profile home-grown talent and create visibility of women-leaders and also help identify future leaders.   By writing about these leaders, many young professionals will also step-up to alternative career choices within male populated industries”.

Speaker companies included in this years’ leadership conference include : NATIONAL DEPT OF  PUBLIC WORKS AND INFRASTRUCTURE, SASOL, ESKOM, NATIONAL DEPT OF SCIENCE AND INNOVATION, NRF– SAASTA, AB-INBEV, ZUTARI, GOLDFIELDS, SANSA, SANRAL, WIMSA, TSHEPA BASADI, ENEL GREEN POWER, PINK AFRICA CONSULTING.

Having been in the conference industry for over two decades, Roux advise to companies sending a delegation to an event include: “determining if the event is priced with the local Rand in mind since travel and accommodation might be an added extra. Ensure that the speaker line-up is confirmed and that the leaders taking to the podium are a good example of true leadership and this will be evident in the news.  Determine whether the topics of discussion are aligned to local industry trends and research, to ensure your selected group gain industry knowledge, skills and are motivated to reach your organisational goals.”

Pinpoint Stewards have 23 years’ experience in research, management and arranging onsite conferences and more recently online training platforms relating mostly to legislative updates and critical issues affecting South African organisations. They are a 100% women owned, Level 2 B-BBEE company.

At each of their women-led events, students are invited to attend and are introduced to potential mentors and work opportunities during the two-day conference. They also host a Women and Leadership in Mining Leadership conference during August each year.
