JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Dual-listed First Quantum Minerals on Thursday temporarily suspended operations at its Guelb Moghrein copper/gold mine, in Mauritania, owing to strike action by some unionised employees.
The company indicated that it was seeking a negotiated resolution.
“While these efforts continue, steps are now being taken to further scale back management resources at site until a decision to restart normal operations is made,” First Quantum noted.
It would provide further updates to the market when warranted.
