Project Description
The project proposes the construction of an SSR-W demonstration plant. The reactor technology produces very low-cost, clean energy and can reduce the cost of electricity to consumers while achieving low-carbon targets.

The plant uses spent nuclear fuel, which could help solve New Brunswick’s future spent-fuel disposal challenge. SSRs are modular in construction, but are able to store energy, which enable them to double or triple their output at peak demand times during the day.

Their rectangular cores can be extended module by module to create reactors from 150 MW to 1 200 MW.
