TSX- and ASX-listed SSR Mining has appointed Daniel Malchuck to its board effective January 8.

He will also serve on the board’s technical, safety and sustainability committee.

Malchuck has three decades of experience in the global mining industry, which chairperson Rod Antal believes will be complementary to the skill sets of the current board.

Malchuck is currently also chairperson of Jetti Resources and a senior adviser at Appian Capital Advisory.

He had a long career with BHP, including as operations president for the Minerals Americas business and president of commodities including copper, aluminium, manganese and nickel.

In this role, he oversaw copper mines in Chile, a multibillion-dollar potash project in Canada and global copper exploration activities.

SSR currently has four producing operations in the US, Türkiye, Canada and Argentina totalling more than 700 000 gold-equivalent ounces a year.
