SPEED DATING

Finance Minister Malusi Gigaba checks his watch as Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) secretary-general Angel Gurría readies to depart from the National Treasury, in Pretoria, for his next engagement. Gurría had earlier handed over the OECD’s fifth and latest survey of South Africa, which calls for major structural reforms to reignite growth. Gigaba, who is under intense pressure as a result of ongoing criticism over his association with the controversial Gupta family, as well as board appointments he made during his stint as Public Enterprises Minister, earlier quipped that Gurría should take longer in answering media queries to eat up the 20 minutes allocated for the question-and-answer session.
