The project entails the construction of a 55 MW combined heat and power plant (CHP) to modernise the Solikamsk thermal power station.

The additional electricity produced by the power station will be used to power the process at Solikamskbumprom’s paper production facilities.

The modernisation of the power plant will decrease the cost of electricity and improve the company’s competitiveness in the market.

Apart from providing additional electric power for the mill, the power plant will also produce heat for the facilities, thereby creating additional cost savings.

Wärtsilä has been contracted to supply equipment for the CHP plant.

Its scope covers an extended engineering and equipment delivery (EEQ), and includes Wärtsilä 50SG engines running on natural gas. The equipment will be delivered during 2017 and is scheduled to be operational by the end of 2018.

The contract is valued at €30-million.
