Toronto-listed Solaris Resources and the Shuar communities of Warints and Yawi have signed an updated impact and benefits agreement (IBA), reflecting the evolving growth and development of the Warintza project, in Ecuador.

The updated IBA emphasises the importance of constructive dialogue and collaboration between the company and the local communities.

In a statement issued by Solaris, Ecuador Production, Foreign Trade, Investment and Fisheries Minister Sonsoles Garcia commended the company for the initiative, highlighting its contribution to positive community relations and the integration of local populations into sustainable activities.

Solaris president and CEO Daniel Earlie also expressed optimism about the agreement, citing it as a testament to the company’s commitment to fostering mutually beneficial partnerships.

“The signing of this updated IBA builds on the foundation of good faith dialogue and trust that led to the formation of a strategic alliance partnership with our host communities and original IBA in 2020. This marks a significant milestone in the social advancement of the Warintza project through our pioneering participatory mining model for sustainable resource development,” said Earlie.
