Location
The project is located in the municipality of Sierra Gorda, 60 km from the city of Calama, in Chile’s Antofagasta region.

Client
Enel Green Power Chile, a subsidiary of Enel.

Project Description
Sierra Gorda has an installed capacity of 112 MW and will generate more than 295 GWh/y once fully operational – equivalent to the yearly power consumption needs of about 130 000 Chilean households – while avoiding the emissions of more than 140 000 t of carbon dioxide.

The energy generated by Sierra Gorda will be delivered to the transmission network of Chile’s northern region, Sistema Interconectado del Norte Grande.

Enel has invested an estimated $215-million in the construction of Sierra Gorda.
