Seifsa retains Nyatsumba as exec director

Kaizer Nyatsumba

Former PetroSA VP Kaizer Nyatsumba has been appointed executive director of the Steel and Engineering Industries Federation of South Africa (Seifsa), with effect from November 1.

A member of the Institute of Directors of Southern Africa, Nyatsumba previously held the positions of director of public affairs and communications at Coca-Cola South Africa, head of corporate marketing and VP at Anglo American, and group general manager of corporate affairs, marketing and black economic-empowerment at Sasol.

He has also served on the boards of the 2010 FIFA World Cup Bid Company, the Anglo American Chairman’s Fund, the Anglo American Medical Aid Scheme, Business Against Crime, the National Business Initiative, the Tourism Business Council of South Africa and the Council of the University of Zululand.

Among various qualifications, he holds a BA Honours from Georgetown University, in the US, an MBA from the University of Hull, in the UK, and a post-graduate certificate in economics from the University of the Witwatersrand, in Johannesburg.

Outgoing Seifsa president Henk Duys welcomed Nyatsumba to the 70-year-old organisation, wishing him well in his new role.

“Our organisation is a vital player in the country’s economy, representing 28 employer associations in the metal and engineering industries. It has played a critical role over the years, and we have no doubt that Kaizer will build on that proud legacy and take the federation from strength to strength,” he commented.

Duys also thanked Seifsa deputy CEO Elsa Venter, who served as acting executive director over the past five months, following David Carson’s retirement in May.
