SACAP staff lend a helping hand to Kgothalang Primary School

As part of its Corporate Social Investment, the South African Council for the Architectural Profession in partnership with the Khora Group participated in the Nelson Mandela International Day on the 18th of July 2017 by cleaning and painting Kgothalang Primary School in Wattville, Benoni.

The school welcomed over 50 volunteers onto its grounds for the school refurbishment initiative entitled “Beautify Our Schools” campaign.

The school, identified by the Department of Education, was in a poor state and needed cleaning and re-painting. Volunteers were divided into groups and each given a block to work on. With the help of school teachers, parents, SACAP staff, Khora Group and the Wattville community, the initiative was a success and come 24th of July 2017 when the school re-opens; children will walk into a clean and welcoming environment.

“The initiative was a success, I am grateful for the support I received from SACAP and everyone who was involved. The staff showed enthusiasm and commitment throughout and I really appreciate that. I would greatly value the opportunity to partner with SACAP in initiatives like this one next year, all this wouldn’t have been possible if it wasn’t for the support we received from the Council and SACAP.

To the teachers and the community of Wattville, the outcome of all your efforts is highly appreciated”, said Katlego Mothapo, of Khora Group.

Mrs Precious Mashazi, principal at Kgothalang Primary School couldn’t hold back her excitement “I am so happy with the work that has been done, I can’t wait to see the children’s faces on Monday, everything is just spot on and fresh, our school has been revived and I’m grateful that our school was identified for this wonderful project. On behalf of the Wattville community and teachers at the school I want to thank SACAP and Khora Group for the wonderful work”.

SACAP would like to extend its gratitude to Katlego Mothapo of Khora Group, Kgothalang Primary School staff, parents, Wattville community, Medal paints who provided paint at a discounted price, PPC cement for donating 20 bags of cement and SACAP staff for making the day special and memorable for everyone concerned.
