Project Description
SAB is expanding its Alrode and Rosslyn breweries. 

Both breweries will be receiving new packaging lines that work with returnable glass. 

These packaging lines will be able to produce about 45 000 bottles an hour. 

The added capacity will increase SAB’s production capacity by 400-million litres a year.

A greenfield malting plant will be installed at the Alrode Brewery, expanding malting capacity from 110 000 t/y to 150 000 t/y of malt.

A state-of-the-art brewhouse will be installed at Rosslyn, which will be capable of producing 14 different brews at 75 000 ℓ/d.

Potential Job Creation
The construction of the breweries will create about 400 jobs.

Seventy permanent jobs will be created.

Value
The project will entail an investment of R2.8-billion, with the expansion of the Alrode Brewery costing R1.3-billion and the Rosslyn Brewery R1.5-billion.

Duration
Production at the Alrode Brewery expansion started in August, with production at the Rosslyn Brewery expected to start in October.

The Rosslyn brewhouse will be operational in the first half of 2018.
