Filtration firm launches SA distribution hub

Automotive, air and fuel filtration manufacturer Ryco launched its first South Africa-based warehouse and distribution centre in Midrand, Gauteng, last month. The office will service Ryco’s sub-Saharan Africa clients.

Ryco CEO Leigh Morrison told Engineering News at the launch that Midrand was chosen owing to its logistics and central location.

“The 23 000 m2 warehouse will house an assembly facility for hydraulics and stock. We see ourselves servicing the mining industry, as well as the marine, forestry and agriculture industries [on the continent],” he said.

He noted that the company planned to expand its African services into Ethiopia and Ghana, Nigeria, Mali, Burkina Faso and Côte d’Ivoire next year.

Morrison added that the company had expanded its horizons and developed its manufacturing and distribution business on a global scale, working with industries in diverse sectors.

Ryco has offices and warehouses in Europe, Brazil, Singapore, Australia, South and North America, and fully quality-accredited manufacturing centres in Australia, China and Malaysia.

The company believes that its global strength in engineering, innovation and product development provides its customers with a high level of service and solutions.

Ryco’s global research and development test facilities provide the design teams with the platform they require to continually improve company products to surpass the performance requirements of customers and industry standards.

The company’s product range is expanding and evolving, providing improved efficiency, higher working pressures and increased safety standards.

Ryco’s policy of high investment in technology ensures that it not only maintains its position in the industry but also improves and develops products that surpass industry standards.

The company has designed and developed a Joint Industry Council (JIC) fitting, called the Ryco Jseal, which equals or betters the performance of O-ring face seals – a new and improved JIC standard.

The design of the Jseal features a convex female seat that is engineered to be used with any male JIC fitting. Owing to the solidity of the nut, Jseal delivers double the torque and eliminates side-load issues.

It can handle up to double the working pressure of seals and offers increased efficiency, improved productivity, reliability and cost effectiveness.
