Rosatom kicks off local nuclear campaign with launch of S African website

The African subsidiary of Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation (Rosatom), which is one of several international nuclear energy organisations vying for a slice of South Africa’s 9.6 GW nuclear infrastructure build programme, has officially launched its local website, which it says is aimed at increasing public awareness on nuclear energy while emphasising the company’s commitment to transparency and education.
 
The group said on Thursday that the website – it’s first outside of Europe – was testament to the company’s dedication to the growing African market and would empower the public to make more informed decisions about nuclear technology.

“We envisage the website will become a platform where people interested in nuclear and the developments in the industry can visit and become far more informed on the subject. There is also an interactive quiz on the website which allows you to test your nuclear knowledge,” commented Rosatom sub-Saharan Africa regional VP Viktor Polikarpov.
 
He explained that the website would provide visitors with an easy-to-understand tutorial on the basics of nuclear technology and featured several videos on Russian technology.

It also incorporated a detailed account of Rosatom’s working relationship with South Africa and its prospects in other African countries.
