Location
The project involves the road rehabilitation of the P41/1 (R42) between Heidelberg and Springs, in Gauteng, South Africa.

Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport.

Project Description
The project will repair more than 5 km of the road, including edge breaks, resurfacing, clearing drainage systems and the installation of new road markings. The project will improve the link between Springs, Nigel and the N3, which forms part of the coal haulage route in the province, and also improves access to the Gibela rail manufacturing factory at Dunnottar that is currently under construction.

Jobs to Be Created
The contract is designated to benefit small, medium-sized and microenterprises and will also employ local labour linked to a compulsory skills training programme.

R15-million.

Duration
The rehabilitation project is scheduled to be completed in June.
