New French President Emmanuel Macron called for a “historic rebuilding” of Europe during his recent meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin, Germany, which was also Macron’s first international trip as President. The two leaders indicated that they would work together to draw up a “roadmap” of reforms for the European Union. They even suggested they were prepared to change European treaties, if needed.
