South Africa’s triple curse of poverty, unemployment and inequality is being identified more and more frequently by international observers as a serious threat to the country’s future stability. Adding his voice to the warnings was the International Monetary Fund’s first deputy MD, David Lipton. During a recent visit, he said: “In the long run, failure to deliver inclusive growth poses a risk to social stability.”
