A new range of surface mounted panic and emergency-exit solutions is available. The hardware includes a panic latch and panic bolt for single door applications, a panic set for rebated double doors and a push pad emergency latch and outside access devices (OADs).
ASSA ABLOY South Africa launched the new ExiSAFE panic and emergency exit hardware from the UNION brand. Manufactured in the UK and backed by a ten-year guarantee, the product is certified for fire doors to deliver best-in-class quality for panic and emergency hardware. It adheres to international fire safety and quality standards including the Certifire independent testing quality mark, fire rating and CE mark for safety, that indicates conformity with health, safety, and environmental protection standards, as well as British Standard European Norm (BS EN) 179 and BS EN 1125. The product has completed over 200 000 testing cycles for timber and metal fire doors and the hardware is rated for 120 and 240 minutes respectively.
The The hardware is finished in a silver colour and offers flexible installation options and combinations of panic and emergency solutions across a project. The push bar and bolt rods can be resized on-site to match the required door size and feature a closed-arm design to reduce the risk of finger trapping. The hardware can also be retrofitted to existing fire and emergency escape doors.
Additional security features include antithrust technology, which prevents manipulation of the device from the outside, sheer screw technology on the OAD lever handle and free swing technology on the OAD knob to further prevent manipulation.
