Project Description
The proposed 700 MW Rampion wind farm will comprise up to 175 turbines built 13 km off the coast of Sussex, between Peacehaven and Worthing. The turbines will have a generating capacity of between 3 MW and 7 MW, with the respective maximum heights to tip being 180 m and 210 m.

The wind farm could generate enough electricity to power 450 000 homes.

Duration
Construction is expected to begin in 2015, if the company chooses to go ahead with the project. E.ON has estimated that the site could start generating power from 2018 or 2019.

Latest Developments
The UK government has approved the construction of the wind farm.

E.ON must make a final investment decision on the project and apply for subsidies from government before building work will start.
