Radar Optiwave aids measurement

Industrial instrumentation solutions manufacturer and supplier Khrohne says the use of radar has expanded into various sectors.

“The world is becoming smarter and solutions need to fit into a world that has become increasingly tech-savvy as well as more automated. There are various uses for radar technology. In the motor industry, for example, radar technology is used to assist in detecting objects near a car or truck as a warning system,” notes Khrohne sales manager Deon Rampathi.

He says the company has introduced the Optiwave 7500, a radar measurement tool that is geared towards hard-to-reach situations. “It’s a new generation of liquids measurement with better measurement performance, enhanced software and an improved, more powerful signal processor.”

The Optiwave 7 500 has a 80 GHz FMCW radar level transmitter for liquids in narrow tanks with internal obstructions. The flush-mounted PEEK lens antenna results in no tank intrusion. It is also insensitive to deposits and has a small dead zone and beam angle (4º with DN70 2.75" lens antenna). It has flange plate protection for corrosive media and a 112 mm 4.4" antenna extension for long nozzles. It is believed that its accuracy is ±2 mm and there is an extensive choice of process connections with measuring distances up to 100 m and in up to +150 ºC.

“For our customers who want to keep their existing antennae and upgrade the electronics without losing the hermetic seal on the tank, there is an Optiwave 7 500 retrofit option,” adds Rampathi.

Khrohne is focused on creating solutions for almost every application and understands the need for smarter, more efficient systems.

The company offers supporting products and services for one-stop shopping and in industries as widespread as oil and gas, water and wastewater, chemicals and petrochemicals, food and beverage, power, as well as minerals and mining.

Radar Optiwave can also detect if a person has fallen overboard from a cruise ship, and within the construction industry to test concrete viability and strength consistency.

It offers accuracy and efficiency, which is essential for safety, stock inventory and processing. Radar Optiwave is robust and can be used in any circumstance. Its versatility allows it to be used in harsh weather and environmental conditions, specifically when it comes to level measurement through radar.

Smarter measurement enhances the safety, sustainability and efficiency of operations. This extends into more reliable and enhanced uptime as well as the extension of equipment service life.
