Quartier Militaire Road B6 upgrade project – Phase 2, Mauritius.

Project Description
The project encompasses the Phase 2 upgrade of the Quartier Militaire Road B6, from Belle Rive to Quartier Militaire, in the central region of Mauritius.

The main work includes the upgrade and partial realignment of an existing road, over a length of about 7.5 km, with a 7.4-m-wide carriageway and 1.5-m-wide hard shoulders; construction of bypasses to two villages, over 1.6 km and 3.0 km; construction of five major roundabouts; construction of a reinforced underpass bridge, with a width of 10 m and a length of 12 m; structural design and construction of a 16-m-span reinforced concrete bridge; rerouting of existing utilities (telephone, water, electricity); construction of miscellaneous drainage structures and retaining walls; and the supply of miscellaneous road equipment, including carriageway markings, traffic signs, handrails, safety fences and street lighting.

The project is valued at $30-million.

Duration
The construction work is scheduled to take 18 months.
