PUT-UPON

South Africa’s largest electricity consumers are becoming increasingly agitated at the fact that they are the first and only port of call when the power system becomes distressed, as it did in late February. The upshot, though, is lower industrial and mining output and, ultimately, lower growth, fewer jobs and reduced investor confidence.
