The Proudly South African (SA) campaign will host its fifth yearly Buy Local Summit and Expo in Johannesburg on March 30, to promote local manufacturing and businesses, as well as to encourage and increase the uptake of local goods and services to stimulate the economy and create jobs.

Proudly SA CEO Leslie Sedibe said the event was in line with the campaign’s support of government’s commitment around localisation and job creation, as well as the New Growth Path and the Industrial Policy Action Plan.

Sedibe said the Summit and Expo had grown into one of the most significant events on the country’s business calendar.

A powerhouse of speakers and panellists, including senior government leaders and ministers, CEOs, economists, business leaders and owners, as well as captains of industries, were expected to attend the yearly event.

The event promises to offer local manufacturers and enterprises an opportunity to showcase their goods and services.

The 150 exhibitors range from small businesses and entrepreneurs to large corporates and multinationals which have invested in the country by establishing local manufacturing bases.

Sedibe said the event would focus on a “MAP Programme” which was developed to focus on the manufacturing, agroprocessing, automotive, pharmaceutical and petrochemical sectors.

“Supporting economic growth and job creation is an integral part of the purpose of this prestigious event. It’s Proudly SA’s core function to promote local manufacturing and local businesses and encourage an increase in the uptake of locally produced products and services,” he added.
