Uses for your pressure washer

There are as many uses for a pressure washer as there are surfaces to clean but some of the more common uses include car washing; window washing; drain, duct and gutter cleaning, parking lot and driveway washing. You can also blast the grime from braai grills, outdoor furniture, motorbikes, mountain bikes and lawnmowers.

You can even use your pressure washer to clean the outside of your house. Here’s how:

How to pressure wash your house

Cover all pot plants and plants surrounding your home with plastic sheeting to prevent damage to tender leaves and stems and particularly to protect them from detergents you may be using. Only leave the cover on while you are working as plants will die if kept in hot conditions for too long.

Stubborn mildew and rust stains may need to be hand scrubbed with a weak bleach solution using a sponge or brush before being rinsed thoroughly with the high-pressure washer.

If your walls and surfaces are particularly dirty use a rotating scrub-brush accessory to clean the surface with water or a soapy solution. This works in the same way as pre-cleaning the stains on  your laundry.

To prevent streaking, start pressure washing from the bottom and work your way up. Use the same approach whether using plain or soapy water.

To rinse start at the top and work your way down. The water will flush away any dirt and soap residue and leave a clean surface.

The pressure washers are available at Build It stores, nationwide.
