TFR plans to increase the capacity on its manganese rail line beyond 5.5-million tonnes to an eventual 16-million tons.

The manganese expansion programme will increase manganese export capacity by upgrading the rail network between Hotazel, in the Northern Cape, and Coega, in the Eastern Cape. The project will include a new bulk terminal at the Port of Ngqura.
