South Africans have become accustomed to battles within the governing alliance of the African National Congress, the Congress of South African Trade Unions and the South African Communist Party. However, the Democratic Alliance has proved in recent weeks that it’s not immune to factionalism, as discord over Lindiwe Mazibuko’s recent decision to take a sabbatical has shown.
